Question marks were raised when Martin O’Neill decided to part with £12 million in order to acquire the striker from Molineux.
After having struggled in recent years with relegation battles and consequent falls from grace, Steven Fletcher hardly fits the bill when it comes to a side challenging for European places.
While his record maybe checkered, the attacker has had imperious scoring records from his days at Burnley and is a solid Premier League player.
Although having signed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Louis-Saha-c22459 in the summer, O’Neill still thought it prudent to acquire a stable back-up plan and thus sanctioned the move for the highly-rated hit man.

However, the complete opposite happened and the front-man proved his doubters wrong by netting an impressive debut brace for the Black Cats. And now he claims that the goals will take the pressure to perform off him and he can focus properly on his Sunderland
career.
“There’s always people talking about it (the fee). I’m just happy to get the two goals to repay the gaffer and his faith in bringing me here to the club. It takes a lot of pressure off myself because obviously the fans are going to expect goals. Hopefully
I can get a few more now. It is a big relief. I’m just happy the ball went into the back of the net.”
He also claimed that his time with Wolverhampton Wanderers was something that he would cherish and added that he enjoyed his spell in the Mid-lands.
“If you feel settled at a club, then you’ll do well. I did that at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 and the boys were fantastic with me. I felt that same thing straightaway when I came here. Everyone’s been fantastic,” Fletcher was quoted as saying.
Sunderland now face a struggling http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 side when the International break ends and will be favourites for the game as they play at home.
