The Scottish skipper claims that the team needs to have a manager whose main aim will be to improve results and performances on a long-term basis.
After giving the boot to Craig Levein earlier this month, the future of Scotland’s senior team has come under intense scrutiny, with many being vocal about their lack of success in recent years.
Although the side has a number of quality players in their ranks, none of them have managed to match the consistency and quality of captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Darren-Fletcher-c10361, who is currently contracted at the Theatre of Dreams after overcoming a nightmare injury that kept
on the sidelines for almost an year.
During that period, the Tartan Army sorely missed their commander in the middle of the park, as they were steamrolled whenever coming across quality opposition. The disastrous results were the final nail in Levein’s coffin and he was given his marching orders
on November 5th.
Fletcher has since then returned to action after being given the go-ahead at United in September and will be raring to go when the team faces Estonia in their FIFA Friendly game.
With his debut being in 2003, the play-maker has established himself as a vital cog in the Scottish machine and has now urged the relevant Football authorities to hire a coach with long-term ambitions and vision to turn around the country’s sagging football
fortunes.
“If it could happen before http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Estonia-c2894 then that would be beneficial because a friendly game in preparation before a qualifier is ideal. A new manager taking over as soon as possible is ideal. But if it means taking a bit more time to get the right choice looking
at it long term, and then take as much time as they need,” he said.
"We are all disappointed Craig left, I think all the players would have liked to have seen him stay and continue his work and hopefully it could have come through on the pitch, but ultimately that's not the case,” Fletcher was quoted as saying while speaking
to the media before the tie with Luxemburg.
