The Scottish midfielder has revealed his desire to continue his run in the squad after making a return from injury last month.
Darren Fletcher’s recovery from a chronic bowel condition has been one of the main driving forces for Manchester United in the recent past.
The Academy graduate was diagnosed with the illness last year and took an undetermined leave from football. Luckily, he was able to ward off the problem this summer and finally resumed training in August, before making the trip to Aberdeen, where he made
his return.
United fans were thrilled to see their all-action playmaker return, especially with the club struggling to find a decent run of form.
Fletcher was quite unknown until a few years ago, during which he made his name by controlling the tempo from the centre of the park.
And with Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson looking to challenge for silverware on several fronts, the 28-year-old was afforded the chance to make a swift return and since September has played in several games to boost his match experience.
Now the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Scotland-c756 International has vowed to continue the trend and become Fergie’s main man when it comes to bossing the midfield against quality opposition.
Speaking to reporters, Fletcher claimed that he was looking forward to playing in as many matches as he could, so that he can reach full fitness in time for the season end.
"It’s what it’s all about. Getting as many games as possible. I know the manager has got such a big squad now, especially in the midfield area, and there is a lot of competition for places. I have to be patient and wait for my chances but, hopefully, one
will come around sooner rather than later."
Continuing, he commented that his current stamina was up to the mark, but his match experience was low and thus had to be recovered as soon as possible.
“I think my general fitness is fine, it’s just match fitness – the sharpness, reaction times, things in your head and things like that. The positional sense, when you’re a little bit older, comes back to you fairly quickly.”
