Question:

Fleury a better sport than Turco?

I was watching a post-game interview with Fleury from last night and they were asking him about the disallowed goal, and unlike Marty Turco, he simply said that Holmstrom sticks to his job, and all he can do is focus on the save. He didn't say anything about whether he thought it should have been allowed or not, which in my opinion, was a lot classier than Marty Turco siding with the ref saying that Holmstrom was interfering, especially when the disallowed goal in Dallas was even more BS than the call last night.

To make this a question...

Who is the MOST classy goalie in history, and who was the LEAST classy?

  1. who is that in your picture?

i have a finnish friend who has pictures of him.. or unless they all wear gold helmets.. then he has pics of other players from that team too..

  2. Absolutely. Turco is very crafty... a master of pushing the net off the sticks to stop play. He reminds me of Roloson who's helmet would always come off whenever he needed a whistle.

Most classy in todays game? Giguere... took substantially less to stay in Anaheim, never dives, never makes excuses.

Least Classy? Turco, Hasek, and Roloson. They know and use every dirty little trick in the book. I tip my hat to them because they get away with it.

  3. Ha, If you saw the game last night when Fleury came out he fell. Woops. Well I think that part of being pro. You should be able to keep those things back and not side with the refs, it makes you look ignertant and desprate to win. It is hard being a goalie so I can't really say who is classy and who is the least but Thats was kind of asssss-holeish of Turco.

  4. yeah fluery just had his head down and kept to himself unlike turce, least classy was ron hextall, only goalie ve ever seen leave the net just to go fight a forward

  5. Goalies are competitive guys...period! Sometimes they say or do things they shouldnt, that doesnt speak to their class but rather their competitive nature. I have seen some guys do some pretty classless and selfish acts both on and off the ice (some of the guys mentioned before are classic examples) but all in all that doesnt make them bad.

I must say that you are correct about the way Fleury handled himself last night, that speaks volumes about the kid. He showed a maturity well beyond his age, I think a lot of that credit can go directly to Super Mario. On the other hand I have met Marty Turco in a social setting and he was nothing but class, if you didnt know he was a professional goalie you would have left feeling you just met a decent ordinary Joe.

(By the way I am a huge Red Wings fan from way back...I remember sitting in Olympia watching some not very good Wings team, but I have never been a bandwagon guy...love them when they are good....love them even when they were bad).

  6. Most classy... i'll have to say Marty  Brodeur... Least classy... Patty Roy (notice i use Patty not Patrick because i'm a huge Red Wings fan)

  7. you guys are both babies. Brodeur is classless, Hextall is classless, and Roy is classless. one of the classiest goalies in the game is Giguere. hands down.

  8. I truly am impressed by Fleury's composure, he kept his cool even though he had more trouble from the Wings then Turco did.

I have only been a Hockey fan since 2000, so I am just going to compare the class of goalies from this era.

Most classy - Would have to go with Marc Denis. I know there are other classy goalies out there, but he really kept his cool through the rough years the Jackets faced.

Least classy - Patrick Roy, no doubt. Lost his temper quickly. Martin Brodeur is close to first of being least classy.

  9. Turco definitely was a cry baby. Fleury has much more class. He rates right up there w/ Osgood (Ok I'm partial).

As far a classless: Roy (pronounced WAAAHHHH!!!) like the cry baby he was.

  10. I would have to say the classiest goalie is Chris Osgood because he never complains and works hard even when he isnt treated fairly.

The least classy would have to be Patrick Roy. Crying to refs, demanding a trade cause the coach left him in the game, and sending his son, the backup goalie, to attack the opposing teams #1 isn't the least bit classy

  11. love fleury. hid my head when he did a face plant though. prolly nerves. very understandable, but shook it off fast.

least is tie between hextall and tom barraso. he was quite hated by pens team mates and NEVER talked to the press.

  12. Chris Osgood #30, Not just because he is in the Stanley Cup, or because I'm a wings fan. He just is.

Least. Patric Roy, and hr carried it over into his sons life. Plus he couldn't win a fight with either Vernon or Osgood

  13. Most classy- Hard for me to judge but I'll say all normally have great class except.....

Least Classy- Emery, Turco, Hasek, Roy, Belfour, Brodeur (at times)

I don't understand why people are getting so p.o.ed at eacch other. Come on! It's the best time of year!
