Question:

Flies in the backyard?

Every August, our backyard seems to be overrun by black flies. We try and avoid using chemicals as we have a baby, and I would love some suggestions for natural solutions. I am also interested in safe plants that will deter these flies when they come next year.

  1. venus fly traps are great they give your garden a wild look and also kids love them and there safe (unless ur a fly)

  2. What is your backyard? To start with. If there is a room to clean your backyard then you are not inviting flies. Some tips I've gathered to deter flies naturally are:

         1. The use of Boric Acid

         2. Spread some minty stuff on the backyard.

         3. They dont like yellow colors. Probably paint your backyard with

                   yellow.

         4. Hang water bags.

         5. Plant some Geraniums, mostly used in France to deter flies.

         6. Buy sticky fly catcher for $1 dollar.
