Am planning to fly to Moscow with Swiss - it involves a stop over in Zurich - with the Swiss website it gives me 40 minutes between flights - is this enough time?

  1. Probably not.

If your incoming flight is at all delayed (very common) you'll miss your connecting flight.

Most airlines close flights about 30 minutes before departure, especially international flights.  90% of the time, they will not wait for you.  They will give your seat to someone on the stand-by list if you're not there when they close the flight.  You don't know where the gate for the continuing flight is, and it might take you ten minutes to get to the next flight.

    You're cutting it too slim.

  2. Probally not most major airlines request a minimum of 2 hours

  3. ooh that IS tight..are you travelling on one ticket? worth paying a bit extra to. I'd do your research if I were you..that would worry me.

  4. No it is not enough as you would have to run and the baggage will depently won't come.

  5. A lot of people answering here have no clue what they're talking about.

Is this on one ticket, one itinerary? I ask because if it is, the airline(s) involved won't let you buy it unless it's what they call a "legal" connection. That means that the  expect it to be doable most of the time. Is it a sure thing? No. Nothing is. But you're probably alright, jusy don't waste any time.

  6. Shouldn't think so, I've yet to fly on time and 40 minutes late seems average and then you have the change over time.

  7. That's a bit of a tight squeeze. The airline I worked for had a minimum 30-minute space between flights (means no flights were allowed to be booked with less time between than that), and even 30 minutes is pushing it. Theoretically it's possible, but all it takes is for one little thing to go wrong to miss the connection.

  8. It's a super tight connection, but the zurich airport is easy to get around, so you could be fine.

  9. it could be but then you wont get your luggage your luggage is checked into where ever your going

  10. You only have to be a couple of minutes late to miss it, an hour at the least should be allowed.  O and by the way, it takes about two hours from landing in Moscow to getting out of the arrivals hall.  Worst airport for Qs to get through immigation.

  11. I agree with Neil, if it is booked as a through ticket wherever/Zurich/Moscow then the airline will be responsible for you if you do miss the connection. You should be checked in and baggage labelled all the way, all you need to do is get off one flight and find departure gate for the other.
