  1. Safety Safety Safety

  2. try to look like you're always in control and relax

  3. Every check pilot is slightly different. Make sure your logbook is  all complete. I know a guy recently who was sent home because his instructor left out less than an hour of his cross country time.

Safety is the number one issue. Whatever you do, err on the side of safety. Make sure you have all your takeoff procedures down (normal, soft and short fields), you're ready for a simulated engine out, you are aware of your location, and unusual attitude recovery.

Other than that, relax, try to enjoy it, and look at it as a learning experience.

  4. Do you have a copy of the Practical Test Standards (PTS)?

These are the rules that tell you what to expect and govern how the Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) will judge your performance. If you know them well, there should be no surprises on the Big Day. Practice!

On the big day - Be Organized

Make a list of all the materials you need and have them together the night before. You don't want to be scrambling around looking for paperwork on the morning of your test.

Have your CFI put you through a mock Checkride to make sure you are prepared.

If you know your stuff, you should pass without a problem.

And remember.. it's a license to learn.
