What's the cheapest airline to fly over to Brazil? How do you brazilians do it when you go back home? Is SP or Rio cheaper to fly into?

  1. Depends, but rates are high right now.  From the US, United is good, but you have to go through Sao Paulo, which is a horrible airport, to get to Rio.  American, on the other hand, takes you through Miami directly to Rio.

  2. sidestep.com is where i buy my tickets...  i paid $700 round trip from New Orleans.. to miami.. to Sao Paulo.. and back.

dont go with Varig... they're going out of business

  3. I have a suggestion, try coast2coasttraveling.com,and try international air tickets on the side bar.I have tried it and i was surprised by the rates. try it,and let me know the results.

  4. I am Brazilian and I usually fly united.

I always find good deals on this web site:

    www.rbrazil.com

Every flight from the US that goes to Brazil always stop in São Paulo first, even if it is going to Rio. So if you are going to Brazil, type Guarulhos airport, that is the name of São Paulo's international airport.

  5. American Airlines or Lan Chile....Out of Miami or Dallas....

  6. I am from Brazil and I have been doing some researches. I think that continental airlines may be a good choice.. Usually  flights go to Sao Paulo, after that you will do a connection to Rio de Janeiro. Good luck.. and enjoy. Brazil is awesome. Specially the Northeast. Fortaleza is a nice city....too.

  7. I usually fly United out of DC to Sao Paulo and Rio - direct flight about 9 hours long. If you leave at 11pm you get there in the morning. I would suggest arriving weekend because the traffic is bad in both Rio or SP (worse in SP). Be careful while there and don't wander by yourself in neighboorhoods you are not sure. Use your best judgement. People are very helpful and friendly and you will have a blast. Lastly, buy a nice guide, like Fodor's.

  8. American Airlines is probably the cheapest.  A lot of it just depends on the time of year you're going too.
