Flintoff still in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Queensland-c834’s sights for Twenty20 Big Bash
Andrew Flintoff may have been ruled out of the 2010 English county season as he continues his drawn-out recovery from two knee operations, but that doesn’t appear to have dampened Queensland’s enthusiasm for attracting the all-rounder for the Australian summer.
Queensland is just one of the Australian domestic sides that have been reported to have an interest in signing Freddie – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Australia-c844 have also been linked to Flintoff – for the domestic KFC Twenty20 Big Bash, and they won’t be taking their eye off the ball should Flintoff be ruled fit to play in the competition.
“We are aware that he is continuing his rehabilitation with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-c60529 Dixon said in a statement on the club’s website.
“We know that Andrew has been the object of some interest from a number of States, including us, and that he has publicly expressed a desire to play in the Big Bash, but at the moment, he is still working on his recovery.
“However we’re encouraged by the progress of our talks at this point in time and will continue to keep the lines of communication open with his management team.”
If the injury-plagued player, who hasn’t played a competitive match since the deciding Ashes Test at the Oval last summer, does regain fitness in time for the Big Bash, or http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Northern-Districts-c825), it will be his first small step on the long road to winning selection for the rejuvenated England Twenty20 or ODI sides.
But while Queensland have time on their side before the January/February competition gets underway in Australia, the Chennai Super Kings early optimism that their $1.5million recruit will be available to play for them in the Champions League this September must surely have faded since including they last month included 32-year-old in their preliminary squad for the competition.
The final 15-man squads for the Champions League are due to be named by August 9th.
