Flip flop decision making continues- PCB (Part 2)
Continuing our discussion on the Test squad announced for the upcoming two Test match series between Pakistan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
The fact that young talents such as Azhar Ali and Zulqarnain Haider are also part of the Test squad, does show some sort of hope in the batting department for  Pakistan in the next two Test match series.
Another positive step taken by the PCB is to increase the batting power by the inclusion of opening left hand batsman Taufeeq Umar, veteran batsman Mohammad Yousuf, and new Test skipper Misbah. One might just find the right balance of talent and experience
in the newly organised batting power-play in the Test squad.
Coming back to Sohail Tanvir, one might not understand the rationale behind his selection as the left-arm fast bowler hasn’t shown any Test cricketing temperament and technique required for a fast bowler in the longer version of the game.
However, he has been a match-winner in the 20-over format of the game, but the question still remains un-answered as to whether he has the right level of mental grooming and sheer talent to become a good strike or frontline bowler in the longer format of
the game or not.
One might also argue the inclusion of Mohammad Sami, as the fast bowler hasn’t made any major contribution in the longer format of the game. Even though, the fast bowler has shown the urge and commitment to make a comeback in the national side, the PCB should
have kept in mind that he is one of the few lucky bowlers among the many naturally talented bowlers, who have been given several chances to make a mark in the national team.
In light of players like Mohammad Talha, who are striving to make it to the national arena, it seems a bit unfair to not give him a chance to play for the national Pakistani cricket team.
On a positive note the PCB hasn’t repeated the same mistake that was made in the recent English tour of not having the right amount of experience in the batting power-play to see through the opposition’s World-class Test bowling line-up.
The national board and selection committee has managed to make a well balanced team in terms of batting power play, as a combination of youngsters, talent and experience has been put together for the upcoming tour.
Meanwhile, the bowling attack will be missing the likes of controversial fast bowlers Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif. But given the natural talent once shown by Mohammad Sami and Sohail Tanvir, one can only expect for the two to rise up to the occasion
and make the most out of the given circumstances.
Not to forget, that the controversial Wahab Riaz, is also part of the squad and the mere fact that besides the controversies the young fast bowler did prove his Test bowling credentials and made an impression on the board and selectors.
It will be expected that the youngster plays well for the national team, as previously he had a much less responsible role to play in the team, but now he might be opening for the national Pakistani team, as time will be a better judge of his Test cricketing
character.
The PCB has made many wrong decisions, which have damaged http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s cricket team. For Pakistan’s cricket ratings to improve, the PCB needs to learn from its mistakes, and provide a the best cricketers an opportunity to play cricket for Pakistan.
