Flooded parquet floors?

I broke my flush water supply pipe and flooded my apartment about five days ago, i thought the floor had dried but some parts still feel soggy and other parts are sticking out and just wont stay back in place when i try to push them back into place.

For the last five days, i've been running the dehumidifier and fan and keeping the windows closed to keep the room dry.. Anyway, i'd like any info or links about flooded floors, what i can do and what my options are.

  1. My experience in property management is that wood or laminate floors are almost always ruined & will need replacement once flooded. The wood warps after swelling.

  2. Don't close your windows allow the moisture to escape your just turning the place into a sauna. If the floor has been lacquered properly the water should not have gotten under your tiles.

Most parquet floors are glued with a water soluble glue hence the lift, also the tiles may warp and buckle with the humidity that's why they are popping up, as well as the swelling.

Wait until it is all dry, preferably using heaters before you try to repair. You may be able to hire, from a hire company blowers that they use to dry carpet which will help.Once dry then re glue the lifted ones with PVA glue and reseal the whole floor.
