Floor Boards the Cheapest Way?

I live in a rented house and the carpets are terrible but the land-lord won't help pay for new carpet or to polish the floor boards underneath the old carpet so I was wondering if any one has any really cheap ways to make the floor boards look great as well as easy to clean.

This depends on the condition of the wood floor underneath the carpeting and pad.  If if is in fairly good condition go to Home depot and buy a container or two of Bruce Hardwood floor Reviver and apply it according to instructions.
