Floral Patches, a major player in At The Races Novices´ Hurdle at Worcester
Floral Patches’ track record is surely quite impressive. On her both starts at Worcester early in the season, the 7-year-old ran flawlessly. She knows this track very well, and holds an obvious chance of putting up an excellent show in At The Races Novices´
Hurdle, being held on September 11th.
The 7-year-old started off her career with a huge bang. She was runner-up in her only appearance under the care of Anthony Honeyball. The debutant mare ran enthusiastically, and kept herself prominent.
She pressed the winner hard from 9th hurdle, and battled on flat. It was an impeccable performance, but since luck was not on her side, she missed the top rank by a short head’s distance in the Tonbrie Construction Novices' Hurdle.
After joining Brian Ellison’s yard, Floral Patches did not take much time in getting off the mark. The audience at Worcester saw her showing an emphatic performance in the AM PM Construction Novices' Hurdle last month.
In the hands of Miss H. Bethell, the 2-1 chance was always prominent. She led over eighth hurdle, and put the rest under a lot of pressure. She went right in the final stages, and kept stretching the advantage.
Following an excellent effort, she notched up the first place by 15 lengths. After such a forceful win, Floral Patches is flying high at the moment, and will be very hard to beat in today’s class 4 event.
The plan is to kick off the affair at 17:10 GMT. It has attracted a line-up of 13 runners, who will be in pursuit of a cash prize of £2,053. The going is good for the 2m7f meeting.
Wayward Glance is also in very good shape at the moment. The 4-year-old was second on his latest trip here. Trained by Jim Best, the son of Sadler’s Wells is in good rhythm, but needs plenty of luck to be dominant.
Wayward Glance will be a strong contender, if stamina lasts. On the other hand, Floral Patches has appeared as the most likely winner after a couple of very fine acts. We wish the best of luck to all the horses.
