Florante Condes ready to take on Wanheng Menayothin for WBC title – Boxing news
The Filipino professional boxer, Florante Condes, who is the former IBF Minimum-weight World Champion, is going to face Wanheng Menayothin of Thailand in their 12-round bout for WBC International Silver Minimum-weight title in front of his home crowd on
June 24, 2011 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Brico Santig was the key person behind that fight to make it possible. Florante ‘The Little Pacquiao’ Condes finished his sparring session in style last Saturday.
Ms. Marilou Valencia, the aunt of Condes said, “Condes has been training and running to keep fit. We hope he makes it so that he can get back to the scene again.”
The 31-year-old, Southpaw stance, Condes is now returning to the ring after winning couple of his fights against Kenichi Horikawa and Sofyan Effendi.
In his last fight, Condes won a seven-round technical knockout decision against Horikawa on November 27, 2010 at the Cebu City Waterfront Hotel & Casino in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City, Philippines.
In his second last fight, Condes won an eight-round unanimous decision fighting against Effendi on August 28, 2010 at the same venue.
Condes made his debut when he won a second round knockout decision against Ruben Billones in 2002 at the Casino Filipino Amphitheater in Paranaque City, Metro Manila, Philippines. He faced the first ever loss of his career in his second professional bout
when he lost the decision against Sonny Boy Jaro in 2002.
The 25-year-old, Minimum-weight contender, Menayothin has been outstanding since he joined professional boxing. Menayothin is an undefeated prospect and has never been defeated by anyone in his career. He is now coming to the ring to compete with Condes
after winning all of his 16 competitions. Menayothin won the WBC International Silver Minimum-weight title in his second last fight against Remy Cuambot on January 6 at the Central Stadium in Nakhon Phanom, Thailand. He then made a successful defence of his
title against Noli Morales on March 31 at the Sara Buri in Thailand.
Hopefully, the competition between the two rivals will be interesting and fascinating one to watch.
