Flora’s Pride tipped to win the Turftv.co.uk Mares’ Novices’ Handicap Hurdle
Flora’s Pride will be chasing her second victory over hurdles in the Turftv.co.uk Mares’ Novices’ Handicap Hurdle at Catterick in England on Tuesday, February 28, 2012. The prize money of winning the class-5 event is £2,053.
The 2 miles race has attracted 12 entries and they are: Flora’s Pride, Shan Valley, Dane Cottage, Below The Deck, Helena Of Troy, Bella Venezia, Zoenicibel, Donna Elvira, Miss Abbey, Politelysed, Jamaddji and Simplified.
Despite not having a good strike rate, Flora’s Pride has the best chances of winning today. She has taken 12 starts over hurdles, winning just one of them. She also has one runner up and third place finish each to her name.
The eight-year-old mare finished fourth in her last race, which was quite a touch one compared to Catterick. Considering that performances, the punters will be looking forward to winning some easy money over the favourite runner.
Keith Reveley’s trained runner will be ridden by Edmond Linehan, jockey who is looking to make a name for himself in the sport.
On the other hand, the bookmakers will also be favouring Shan Valley, who has got one hurdle victory to her name out of five outings. She does not have any other solid performances to her name, but has a very good chance of changing that today.
Michael Easterby’s trained mare will be partnered by Jake Greenall, who has quite a lot of experience in hurdles. He has won 15 of them, but the overall strike rate is not much impressive.
Another mare capable of finishing in the top three is Dane Cottage, trained by Brian Ellison. She does not have any victories to her name, but has got a couple of third place finishes out of 10 attempts.
The five-year-old mare has a very good chance of bringing up her maiden hurdle victory, but will need a special effort. She will be partnered by Barry Keniry, who has got quite a lot of experience over hurdles.
Keniry has won 71 hurdles in his career so far and will be looking onto improve his strike rate, by performing a touch more consistently compared to the past.
The spectators in Catterick might see a close battle amongst the top three runners, but Flora’s Pride seems to be in very good rhythm, especially after her last run at Market rasen.
