  1. it's crittinton or crittenton.

    I lived there.

the program kind of encourages the mother to keep her baby.

  2. when i was pregnant with my 19 year old i stayed at the catholic home for unwed mother's in san deigo ca.. i kepted my baby. catholic churches all over ca have these kinds of homes, in your own town i'm sure you will find a church that can help you in your search. good-luck.

  3. I am not sure what you are looking for -

If you are looking for an adoption agency, I believe that the Crittenton homes no longer operate as adoption mills.  They have returned to the original mission of the Crittenton Foundation of helping women in need and helping them to support their families.  As with Catholic Charities, they are trying to atone for their shameful past of forced adoptions.  Most of the "homes" have been converted into treatment centers to help people, not rip their children from them.

If you are looking for someone adopted through a Crittenton home, the National Crittenton Foundation will host a reunion site on their main page starting in 2008.  This is to "commemorate" their 125th anniversary.  Sick way to have to celebrate but at least they are taking steps to admit their shameful past.

  4. I'm not sure if you are looking for information on this particular home for unwed mothers or any agency in general in the San Jose area.  Could you please clarify?

  5. What you're looking to do is wonderful, will be a life long reward.

Since you indicated that you were looking for an adoption agency, home for unwed mothers, I would ask that you take alittle more time to read books at the library on adoptions. There are alot of ways to adopt, and stories of what can bring heart ache to a family that isn't aware of what could happen.

My wife and I adopted two children many years ago, since that time have heard alot of stories in the news, as well as other places, of how people, not just the young ladies that will do anything to get money from well meaning people, so doesn't hurt to be as informed as possible. I know that if you take the time to read a few good books on adoptions you will feel more informed as to questions to ask and information in general in adopting a child at any age.

  6. Are you talking about Florence Crittenton  Services? In San Jose?

I am sure you can find them in the yellow pages if they have a facility there.
