The 32-year-old’s sending off totally changed the nature of the game on Sunday and the player feels that he didn’t deserve to get a red card for that challenge.
While talking to reporters after Sunday’s match which http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Florent-Balmont-c13837 said that he barely touched Mathieu Valbuena and there was another defender behind him so it can’t be called a clear goalscoring opportunity.
The former Nice player added that he thought referee is going to show him a yellow card and that decision changed the outcome of the game.
Accusing Mathieu Valbuena of diving, Florent Balmont said that the Marseille player is a diver and he does that a lot, and it’s a shame that the sending off contributed in Lille’s defeat.
"The foul deserved only a yellow card - I barely touched him. There was another defender there, but Valbuena killed the match by diving. We know him, he does that a lot, but it's a shame things went like this."
Aurelien Chedjou has echoed his teammate’s views about the France international and has advised Valbuena to quit football if he doesn’t want to be touched on the pitch. The centre-back said that Mathieu Valbuena is a good player and he needs to accept this
fact that football is a contact sport and acts like this are ruining the beauty of the game.
“If he [Valbuena] doesn't want to be touched, he can change sport. He is really a good player, but football is a contact sport."
Lille coach, Rudi Garcia feels that Balmont was lucky to come out unscratched from the challenge on Valbuena and he could have been seriously injured. The coach said that it is the duty of the referee to make correct decisions on the pitch and to make sure
that the players remain safe.
"Balmont was lucky - he could have been seriously injured. The referee is on the pitch to make sure the players stay safe."
