Contrary to what media was claiming, Balmont has reached an agreement with his current club Lille and has signed a contract extension for two more years
The future of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Florent-Balmont-c13837 was centre of speculation in recent weeks with reports linking him with a move away from Lille. However, the French midfielder has now signed a contract extension with Les Dogues that will see him stay at the club until June
2015.
According to L’Equipe, both the player and the club have reached an agreement and Balmont will continue his journey with Lille after agreeing to stay for two more years.
Balmont was also courted by several other clubs in Ligue 1. OGC Nice and Bordeaux were keen to sign the player from Lille. Despite attracting interest from several top-clubs, Belmont never wanted to leave Les Dogues. The Frenchman voiced his desire more
than once to stay with Lille for many years to come.
"I do not want to leave. I am having talks with the club over a new deal. But so far I see no progress. I do not know if I will remain a Lille player next season or not.”
According to reports, Lille have decided to keep the experienced midfielder who made 30 appearances for the club last season and scored a goal as well.
After agreeing a new deal with Lille, Frenchman hopes to end his career at Stade Lille-Metropole. The 32-year-old has expressed his determination to play at the highest level for many years to come.
Two of Balmont’s former club, Lyon and Nice were interested in acquiring the services of the midfielder. However, 32-year-old views Lille as a club which has more ambitions and has decided to remain faithful to Great Danes. Frenchman has vowed to use all
his experience to help the club in coming seasons.
