Florent Cuvelier, the 19-year-old Belgian midfielder, has turned down a move to Middlesbrough to sign a new contract with English Premier League side Stoke City.
However, there are chances that Cuvelier could still end up at Middlesbrough next season on a loan move since it is highly unlikely he will be playing first team football at Stoke City. The move is yet to be confirmed by either party though.
Despite interest from the likes of Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham, Cuvelier decided to move to Stoke City from Portsmouth in 2010. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850 under-21 international has spent most of last season on loan with Walsall, the League One side.
The youngster made 18 appearances and managed to score 18 goals, which impressed Stoke City and convinced them to offer him a new contract. However, quite a few sides were interested in signing the Belgium international, along with Middlesbrough.
Though, it seems Stoke City eventually emerged victorious and have successfully secured Cuvelier on a two year deal. The news will come as a blow to all the other side’s who had identified Cuvelier as their new signing in the summer transfer window.

He revealed his client was extremely happy at Stoke City despite the interest from various sides. He also mentioned how Cuvelier viewed his long-term future under http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tony-c35440 Pulis at Stoke City and was looking for a loan move to a Championship side so that he
could earn a more permanent position in the Belgium under-21 national side.
Levack , Cuvelier’s agent, said in an interview:
“Florent is happy to have everything completed, despite interest from elsewhere. He sees his long-term future at Stoke and is now looking to get out on loan in the Championship and work his way back into the Belgium Under-21 team.
He has proved himself at League One level and now wants to do the same in the Championship.”
