Florent Hassambay earns Men’s 100m freestyle gold – 2013 Indian Ocean Meet
Florent Hassambay of France earned gold medal of the Men’s 100m freestyle on last day of the 2013 Indian Ocean Meet in St. Paul, Reunion, on Sunday, December 30.
The French swimmer devastated hopes of his opponents in the 100m race as he showed no leniency and sprinted his way towards the finishing end for gold medal..
With his alluring pace, he remained in a full body length lead over his challengers and reached the finishing end for gold medal by touching the wall with the timing of 51.29 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Pierre-Yves Desprez of France, who stayed nearly full second behind and stepped on the finishing end for silver medal by touching the wall with the timing of 52.13 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Alann Bobe of France, who stayed 0.07 seconds slower from upsetting his former finisher and stepped on the victory stand for bronze medal by producing an effort of 52.20 seconds.
Bobe enjoyed an advantage of 0.35 seconds from his former finisher and surfaced on the finishing end for fourth position by posting an effort of 52.55 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Mathieu Marquet, who was almost half a body length slower from improving his position and emerged on the finishing end by clocking an effort of 53.21 seconds.
Marquet was followed by Lucien-Robert Marcoz of France, who stayed 0.45 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and clocked an effort of 53.66 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Valery Defalbaire of France, who was nearly 0.70 seconds behind and clocked a time of 54.38 seconds.
Last position of the race was secured by Dimitri Faubourg of France, who was full body length behind and surfaced on the finishing blockade for eighth position by clocking an effort of 55.56 seconds.
In addition, Hassambay received a huge round of applause from the audience for his notable form whereas the position holders received awards and accolades for their undisputed efforts and the victory ceremony of the event. Furthermore, the session ended after the completion of all listed events.
