Florent Hassambay seizes Men’s 100m IM gold – 2012 Indian Ocean Meet
Florent Hassambay of France seized gold medal of the Men’s 100m Individual Medley (IM) on day two of the 2012 Indian Ocean Meet in St. Paul, Reunion, on Saturday, December 29.
The French swimmer showed no mercy to his challengers in the 100m discipline and made his way towards the finishing end for the crown.
With his impeccable pace, Hassambay remained in a prominent lead over his opponents and touched the wall for the crown with the timing of 58.51 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Hassambay’s team-member, Pierre-Yves Desprez, who was 0.62 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end for silver medal by clocking an effort of 59.13 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Julien Bayle of France, who suffered a loss of only 0.02 seconds from his preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with the timing of 59.15 seconds.
Fourth position of the race was obtained by Alann Bobe of France, who remained 0.80 seconds away from his foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall with the timing of 59.95 seconds.
Similarly, Bobe enjoyed an advantage of full body length over Aurelien Aubras of France, who failed to secure the podium in playoff and proved his eligibility for fifth place.
Aubras remained 1.88 seconds away from Bobe and finished his swim in a time of 1 minute and 01.83 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth fastest spot of the race was gained by Sebastien Salvan of France, who was 0.35 seconds slower from his former finisher and surfaced on the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 02.18 seconds.
Seventh position of the event was obtained by Quentin Loncke of France, who was 0.40 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end by producing a time of 1 minute and 02.58 seconds.
Last position of the event was obtained by Damien de Palmas of France, who was only an inch behind and posted a time of 1 minute and  02.63 seconds.
Furthermore, Hassambay was happy with his top finish in the race and stressed that he would try his level best to accomplish the same in forthcoming events.
