Florent Malouda: Chelsea can pose EPL title threat to Manchester United
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Florent-Malouda-c13838, the 30-year-old Chelsea winger, believes the Blues are on their way to becoming serious title contenders after their 3-1 win over Birmingham City last night. The Frenchman went on to score two goals, with Kalou claiming the third as Chelsea
overtook London rivals Arsenal to claim second place on the English Premier League table.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 are now on level points with the Gunners but occupy the second place spot because of the goal difference. League leaders Manchester United have an advantage of six points, but with five games remaining in the season and a resurgent Chelsea, the title
race looks to be open. Malouda was confident his side had a decent chance of challenging United for the Premier League crown.
Malouda said while speaking to reporters, “The title race is open for the three teams and even though Arsenal drew, we are only second because of the goal difference. We have no choice but to win every game to put pressure on Man United. They have to play
at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-Maseru-c38430 but we have to play our part by winning our games.”
While Malouda was certain his side could pose Manchester United a threat as they look to collect their 19th title, he admitted for that to happen the Blues had to win their remaining fixtures. Not only that, but they were now relying on Manchester
United to stumble, with two losses in the remaining fixtures the most favourable result for Chelsea.
Having been in terrible form earlier on in the season, Malouda said it was important for his side to remain realistic and humble. The Blues suffered their worst ever slump in over 15 years which saw them exit from the three cup competitions and at one point
even slip out of the top four in the Premier League. However, they have recovered since then and the French winger intended to keep it that way.
The French winger continued, “We have to stay humble; we know where we are coming from. We had difficult moments we had to overcome to come back to the second place and now we have to play at our best level. We are out of the Champions League now and we
have to give everything until the end of the season.”
This is Malouda’s fourth season at the London club, the Frenchman joined from Ligue 1 side Lyon for a fee of £13 million in the summer of 2007. While he failed to make too much of an impact in his first season at the club, making just 37 appearances and
scoring 3 goals, he has improved since then. So far this season he has made 45 appearances in all competitions and has scored 13 goals so far.
After his performance last night against Birmingham City, Malouda seems to have earned his place back into the first team. It is highly unlikely that Ancelotti will start without Malouda when the Blues host West Ham United at Stamford Bridge over the weekend.
