Florentyna Parker birdies while Michelle Wie can’t see past the bogeys
The ongoing Dubai Ladies Masters, witnessed Florentyna Parker ruling the roost as she carded an amazing 67 while Michelle Wie was seen faltering amidst her bogeys.
The event being held at the Majlis gold club clasped together a tough brawl between golfers from various standings and holds euro 500,000 as prize money for the winner.
From the English line-up, Parker or ‘Flory’ carded an impressive 5 under to start the Dubai Masters as she stepped into the leading front. As for Wie, she slipped a few notches below when a triple bogey assault overwhelmed her
on Wednesday.
The American golfer carded a decent score of 71 initially in total ,which includes her fall at the 8th hole. The triple bogey errs experienced by Wie and her score card thus managed to exhibit a rather sizeable effect
at the season ending 2010 event.
From the Russian ensemble, Maria Verchenova pushed for a second place standing with her 68 and was leading a group of 5 female golfers fighting for the third. The third place was thus rather crowded and had the likes of Marianne
Skarpnord, Morgana Robbertze, In-kyung Kim and Bo-mi Suh.
Coming back to the first round leader, she said that her game started extraordinarily. The female golfer is currently holding the 1st place in the list and adorned her record with a sizeable amount of classic birdies.
The leader collected a total of 5 birdies from her first seven holes and added only one bogey to her score card along with one birdie from the back nine.
Regarding her approach at the Majlis, Parker said that her focus was to get comfortable and remain confident. The female golfer said that her focus was to make it close to the pins since she had the goal of grabbing birdies from
the coming holes.
“It gives you a lot of confidence” Parker said.
As for Wie, her score card gleamed with 2 birdies and one Eagle. Her birdies were collected before the back nine after which an eagle slowly made its way to her record. Things got worse at the 8th hole of the GC when
her ball disobeyed her drive and decided to land first out of bounds and then into the bunker.
“That made me very angry but I had to get over it for the birdie at the last hole” Wie said.
