Florentyna Parker fails to end victory drought in 2012 season
English Florentyna Parker may have failed to clinch a victory in the 2012 LET (Ladies European Tour) season, but recording three top-ten finishes during the year reflects that she still has
what it takes to shine on the course.
Although Parker was seen struggling to prove her worth in most of the tournaments in the 2012 season, her fans and admirers around the world liked the way she rattled rivals at the Aberdeen
Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open 2012.
She shot an overall score of 213 to finish tied for the second position in Scotland.
Parker is one of the few English players whose game can be compared with that of other key European stars. But a performance slump in the season must have made her want to reshape her game
in order to end her protracted winning drought.
The 2011 season also went without a win—something that had raised concerns over her game. However, the 2010 season was much better as it saw her clinch a victory at the ABN Amro Ladies Open.
Parker kicked off her 2012 season at the World Ladies Championship, held in early March, at the prestigious Mission Hills Hainan’s Vintage Course, China. The tournament saw her unveil good
putting skills and she managed to finish tied for the 11th position.
The LET titan then jetted to Morocco to take part in the Lalla Meryem Cup, held from March 22-25, at the Golf del’ Ocean, Agadir. It was a soul-crushing performance as the English star shot
an unimpressive 291 to finish tied for the 52nd position on the leaderboard.
The Turkish Airlines Ladies Open, staged in May, also saw Parker fail to prove her mettle. She missed several chances on the greens and ended up posting a 307 to take the share of 55th position
on the leaderboard.
The last tournament of the season—Omega Dubai Ladies Masters 2012—could have ended on a promising note. But all Parker’s efforts could garner was a 19th-place finish along with four other
contenders.
She fought a tough battle but there were several holes that troubled her, costing her precious points along the way. She made a sizzling start to her campaign as she posted a 66 in the first
round, but carding a 74 in the next round dented her confidence.
Still resilient, Parker tried to bounce back in the third round and managed to shoot a 69. However, she once again marred her position by carding a 73 in the final round, slipping to the 19th
spot on the leaderboard.
Despite not being able to win a single event in the last season, Parker’s performance at the 2011 Omega Dubai Ladies Masters had been amazing. She posted an overall score of 282 to take the
9th position on the leaderboard.
