Flores leaves Chivas role with mutual consent
The Youth Director for Mexican side Chivas Guadalajara, Efrain Flores, has parted company with the club after six years there. The Mexican’s six-year stint with the Guadalajara team saw him hold a variety of administrative and managerial roles. He leaves
the club on a good note, with best wishes from the top management.
Flores said in a statement that he has a mutual agreement with the club president and owner, Angelica Fuentes and Jorge Vergara. He said that he was separating himself from the club, since it is in the mutual interest of both parties.
It has been suggested that Flores’ decision to quit may have come after Fernando Gutierrez was fired recently. Gutierrez was considered to be Flores’ right hand man, and it is believed that he was fired after a poor run of form. It was also rumoured that
the president of Chivas was not happy with the decline in the youth systems disciplinary record.
Earlier this year Flores also acted as interim manager of the Chivas senior side, and lost his first game in charge. He did however manage to redeem himself with a win in the following match. Efrain Flores is very famous for being the main driving force
behind the development of Chivas’ impressive youth system.
Flores said that during his six year stay at the club, almost 41 players made their debuts for Chivas, and most importantly these players developed rapidly. He added that, "That's where I believe the work of everyone who toils here goes directly towards,
the development of the player in his manner of thinking, his manner of being and the way he behaves."
Flores is sad about leaving a club where he worked for six years, even though it was by mutual consent. He thanked the Chivas supporters, and said that working for Chivas was something he thanks God for. He added that from the day he joined the side, he
always received great support from both the club and fans.
