Flori Lang acquires Men’s 50m backstroke gold: Day two – Zurich International Meet
Flori Lang of SC Uster Wallisellen acquired gold medal of the Men’s 50m backstroke on concluding day of the 2012 Zurich International Meet in Switzerland on Sunday, February 26.
The Zurich meet was of considerable value as it paves the way for the 2012 London Olympic Games and provide a chance to world-class players to compete with each other in their respective events.
Lang’s irresistible efforts placed him in a prominent lead over his competitors and he enjoyed victory with the timing of 26.76 seconds. He was trailed by Mark Fischer of SSV Ulm, who ended second with an effort of 27.44 seconds. The third spot of the event
was secured by Jonathan Massacand of Vevey-Natation, who completed his race in a time of 28.15 seconds for bronze medal.
After a while, the audience witnessed remarkable effort of SC Regio Freiburg’s Dorte Baumert in Women’s 100m backstroke, who earned her way to the top of victory stand for gold medal with an effort of 1 minute and 05.19 seconds.
She was trailed by Nina Kost of Badischer Schwimmverband, who stayed 1.37 seconds apart and finished her swim with the timing of 1 minute and 06.56 seconds. Kost maintained a lead of just 0.12 seconds over Seraina Sturzenegger of SC Uster Wallisellen, who
pocketed third position of the event in a time of 1 minute and 06.68 seconds.
Moments later, Michal Rubacek of TJ Znojmo impressed his fans by clinching gold medal of the Men’ 100m butterfly. Rubacek remained nearly half a second ahead of his following swimmer and ended first with the timing of 55.78 seconds.
He was chased by Lang, who proved his mettle for second position and concluded his race with the timing of 56.16 seconds. He remained in a lead of 1.37 seconds over Massacand, who seized bronze medal of the event in a time of 57.53 seconds.
The arena appreciated efforts of all swimmers whereas the podium finishers were invited on the victory stand for their commendable efforts at prize distribution ceremony of the championship. Furthermore, the session concluded after the completion of all
scheduled events.
