Florian Bissinger wins second stage of Tour of Szeklerland 2011 - Cycling News
ARBÖ Gebrüder Weiss - Oberndorfer team’s Florian Bissinger showed a brilliant effort and took the second stage of Tour of Szeklerland 2011 and also takes overall leader’s yellow jersey on Friday, August 11.
The race started in Miercurea Ciuc and ended in Baile Harghita. The German cyclists took the total of 4 hours, 31 minutes and 51 seconds to cover the distance of 181.2 kilometres.
Jozef Palcak (Slovakia National Team) was runner-up with 22 seconds down to Bissinger. Oleksandr Prevar of Kolss Cycling finished third with the difference of 27 seconds.
Gabor Kasa of Serbia National was in good form and tried to catch the other three leading riders but failed to increase his pace and grabbed seventh place with difference of 31 seconds ahead of Mark O’Brien (SP Tableware).
After a few kilometres to go, the group of three cyclists including Anatoliy Sosnitskyy (Kolss Cycling Team), Vitaliy Popkov (ISD - Lampre Continental) and Dmytro Popov (Kolss Cycling Team) made a break.
Anatoliy Sosnitskyy increased his pace and managed to gain points in the first sprint.
With few kilometres to go, the trio was caught by the peloton and a new group formed. Zoltan Vigh of the Aegon Cycling team launched an attack and took the second sprint. However, Vitaliy Popkov (ISD - Lampre Continental) took points in the third sprint.
The cyclists continued the stage in the climbs while Alexander Braico and Gabor Fejes working well together but Braico took the first two climbs. However, Anatoly Pakhtusov took the final climb.
Florian Bissinger took the overall standing with the timing of 8 hours, 50 minutes and 27 seconds while Ioannis Tamouridis (SP Tableware) was runner-up with 27 seconds down to sprinter.
Oleksandr Prevar (Kolss Cycling Team) finished third and Vitaliy Popkov was in fourth place with difference of 33 seconds.
The six cyclists including, Svetoslav Nedev (Bulgarian National Team), Alexandru Stancu (Dinamo Bucuresti) and Lars Pria (ARBÖ Gebrüder Weiss – Oberndorfer) were disqualified.
The next 3a stage will start in Hármaskereszt and end in Băile Harghita (ITT). All the cyclists will cover the distance of 7 kilometres.
