Florian Vachon succeeds during the opening stage of the Criterium International 2012
Florian Vachon of Team Bretagne-Schuller claimed the first stage of the Criterium International. The cyclist rode brilliantly to grasp his second win of the season.
The 27-year-old claimed his first victory at the Classic Loire Atlantique and is looking good for the coming part of the season.
He finished the 89.5 kilometre opening stage of the race in a fastest time of 2 hours, 3 minutes and 48 seconds to grab the top podium spot.
Danilo Wyss of Team BMC, Clément Koretzky of Team La Pomme-Marseille, Simon Geschke of Team Project 1t4i and Nicolas Bazin of Team Auber 93 secured the second, the third, the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
The French started riding professionally with Team Roubaix-Lille Métropole in 2008 and spent a period of two years with the team.
He reached the heights of his career early on with a number of victories during the initial years of his career.
Florian finished second during the Championat d'Auvergne 2005 and grabbed the first runner up position during the Circuit des 2 ponts Montluçon.
He finished 8th overall at the UCI World Championships 2007 and occupied the 3rd and 4th stages of the Tour du Haut Anjou.
Vachon joined the French side, Team Bretagne-Schuller in 2010 and is continuing his third consecutive season with the team.
He finished first during the Tour du Finistere and achieved the second overall spot at the Grand Prix de Denain in the past season.
Florian finished third at the Ronde de I’Oise and claimed the fourth spot at the Polynormande.
He shined again during the first stage of the race and answered his critics with an impressive performance during the first stage of the Criterium International.
Christophe Riblon of Team Ag2r La Mondiale succeeded during the 74 kilometre opening sprint of the race while Florian succeeded during the 89.5 final sprint of the event.
Vachon is now leading the stage 1 classifications with a lead of 2 seconds over Danilo Wyss and 3 seconds over Christophe Riblon.
Clement Koretzky, Mickael Buffaz and Linus Gerdemann are currently holding the fourth, the fifth and the sixth positions in the respective order.
