Floriano Pagliara all set to take on Rynell Griffin in a non-title six-round clash – Boxing News
Floriano Pagliara, the current IBF Mediterranean super featherweight champion, recently vowed to put forth an epic performance against his Thursday night opponent Rynell Griffin, in a six-round non-title bout which will be held on June 14, 2012.
The duo will meet at the ring set up at Roseland Ballroom situated in New York, United States and the event is being organised and promoted by Lou DiBella of DiBella Entertainment. The showdown will be headlined by the non-title 10-round light heavyweight
bout between Sean Monaghan and Romaro Johnson.
The fight card will be co-headlined by the non-title 10-round welterweight clash between Thomas Dulorme and Alberto Herrera. Floriano recently shared his thoughts about the upcoming engagement and vowed that he will meet the expectations of all those who
gave him respect and supported him on his journey to reach the point where he proudly stands at the moment.
Pagliara, 33, has been in a total 17 bouts and emerged victorious in 12. The Italian proud is not that much of a high-calibre pugilist but still has nailed seven of his opponents by knockout.
The odds to some extent are in favour of the Italian as he has a clear upper hand over Griffin in almost all the significant facets of the sport. Griffin, 29, is undoubtedly going through a seriously tough phase of his career.
Rynell has been in a total 17 bouts just like Floriano but has grabbed only six wins. Moreover, he has nailed just two men by knockout. With huge nine losses and most of them coming in the recent years the question of whether he will be able to put forth
the Italian a decent resistance or not genuinely arises.
In addition, Griffin, has been on a continuous seven-bout lose streak. Rynell was just by an inch able to grab a draw decision against Jaime Sandoval otherwise it would also have been most probably his eighth continuous loss.
During the media interaction, Pagliara, also known as ‘Flash’, shared his sheer excitement and stated, “I am very happy to be here today. This is very emotional for me. Four years ago when I left Italy to come here, I had nothing. I had no home, I had no
friends, I couldn't speak any English. Now I stand in front of you here today and can say that this is my new home. I have great people around me, and I am looking forward to putting on a good performance for everyone who comes out to show their continued
support for me and my career.”
Floriano will strive really hard and by the looks of his resume it is quite clear that he is the better man. Griffin must need to work on his strategy otherwise he will only get pummelled just like in his last eight bouts.
