I took a boating course at a CoastGuard Station and passed. All I got was a card which i signed and stated it was my boating license. It doesn't have a picture identification or my birth date or any important information really except the platoon that gave it to me. HOW DO I GET A PICTURE IDENTIFICATION CARD?

  1. You have not stated your age, but if you are 21 or younger you are required to have the safety course card as well as a photo ID such as a drivers license.

In Florida to operate a vessel powered by a motor of 10 horsepower or greater (including PWCs), a person 21 years of age or younger must have completed a boater education course approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) or passed an approved equivalency exam.

Operators who are required to have completed a boating education course or exam must carry on board:

His or her Boating Safety Education ID Card issued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and ...  A photographic identification card.

  2. You wont get a Boating License in FL sinc ehtey do not require one to operate a boat int the state.  Unless under sixteen but that is mostly just for personnel watercraft. This is something that many people would like to see since ther eare so many boaters and all y ou need is to buy a boat registerit and you good to go.  You need it for a car wny noat a boat would cut down on many accidents.

The ID you got will help if your ever pulled over by CG or marine Police and should get you a discount on your boat insurance.   It is nice to see that you take boating serious and have taken the time to go through the course.  Whish there where more on the water like you we would all be a lot better off.  Enjoy and be safe.
