Florida Marlins and New York Mets' game postponed due to rain – MLB News
Florida Marlins and New York Mets’ game on Wednesday, August 3 was postponed after a heavy rain that rendered the teams unable to play. The game at Citi Field was supposed to be the last match with the Marlins having a 2-0 lead in the three-game series.
Marlins started a wonderful show in the series with 7-3 win in the first game. It was due to Mike Stanton’s grand slam that brought the team a much-sought victory at Citi Field. All the same, the bull-pen performed equally good to turn the game into the
team’s favour.
It is deflating a little bit, but you've got to give our guys credit the way they rebounded and came up with four straight hits," Florida manager Jack McKeon said. "They didn't give up and say, 'Oh, tough luck.' We went right after them."
Marlins then maintained the lead in the series with their second win. It was Omar Infante’s pair of solo shots and mistake of Justin Turner while throwing the ball which resulted in the Marlins’ victory.
Tuner was obviously deep disappointed by an outcome he had barely anticipated. "He did an outstanding job of baserunning," Turner said. "I don't necessarily think that I made a bad choice, I just made a bad throw."
Wednesday’s game was supposed to be yet another good day for the Marlins. However, as rain started pouring, the predictions were made that the game might get postponed. As time elapsed, the possibility then turned into reality.
It is important to mention here that when the series started, the Marlins were here with a season-worst 11 loses, something that only a series win could compensate and that too with considerable difficulty.
But as the team has made significant inroads into the path of victory, they have revived the hopes to prove their relevance and strength in the games to come. The schedule for the postponed game shall be announced later as the two teams will meet again on
August 29.
