Florida Panthers, New Jersey Devils gear up to decide series in Game 7 -NHL Playoffs Preview
New Jersey Devils found a way to win in their previous matchup and they are definitely using to utilise that strategy yet again, but Florida Panthers will also come prepared as both teams gear up to decide the series in Game 7 of the 2012 National Hockey
League (NHL) Stanley Cup Eastern Conference Playoff Quarterfinals.
It is definitely a do or die situation for both teams as the home-ice advantage has not been as significant of a deal as it usually is.
Florida will luckily have veteran goalie, Jose Theodore, back on the line-up and ready to go as he failed to play with the team in Game 6 due to an undisclosed injury, leaving it up to Scott Clemmensen.
"It's do or die," Panthers goalie, Jose Theodore, said Wednesday. "These are the kind of games you want to be part of. I mean, everybody when you're a kid and you play hockey, you always imagine that it's Game 7 in the Stanley Cup playoffs. So obviously
it's a game everybody wants to be part of and help the team win."
Travis Zajac made a comeback in the playoffs for New Jersey Devils and kept them alive with the overtime game-winner in Game 6. He is hoping to save the day once again, but is not afraid at the same time as well.
"Winning Game 7 would be nicer," Zajac said. "That's all that's on our minds now. It was definitely rewarding to score the goal, but it means nothing if we don't win Game 7. We've played six games against them now. We know what is going to work and what
doesn't."
Kris Versteeg has been hot for Florida as the forward recorded three goals in the last three matchups while Zajac leads New Jersey with six points, consisting of three goals and three assists.
Florida is committed to changing the course of history by eliminating New Jersey, like they did to the Panthers more than a decade ago. It will definitely be interesting to see who comes out on top.
Game 7 is set to begin on Thursday night, April 26, 2012, at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida, at 8:30 PM ET.
