Florida Panthers Erik Gudbranson sidelined after shoulder surgery -NHL Update
The Florida Panthers have faced, what some term to be a major loss to the defensive department on their line-up as the Sunrise based National Hockey League (NHL) franchise sidelined Erik Gudbranson following a shoulder surgery earlier last week.
It was the South Florida Sun Sentinel to break the news about their home team, which the fans are very excited to see playing next season as they had one of the best regular seasons last time around and are hoping for a hockey year to continue as a lockout
seems very possible right now.
No set time has been set by the Florida Panthers and the medical staff at this moment for Gudbranson’s recovery and comeback on the team but insiders have termed it to be at least four months before he will be able to play primetime hockey again. Any sort
of physicality could be potentially dangerous for the player and his shoulder and is expected to make a full recovery before returning to the line-up.
Drafted as the third overall back in 2010 by Florida Panthers, Erik Gudbranson has not been able to play as a major player for the team up until now but is seen by many as really grabbing the stage next time around as he looks to perform in a breakthrough
season.
The native of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, picked up eight points (2 goals, 6 assists) last season in 72 games played and a plus-minus rating of -19. The biggest advantage that Gudbranson gave to Florida was a lot of depth in defense as he recorded 78 minutes
in penalty time and made a major difference in controlling the offensive players of opposing teams.
For now, Florida is just looking towards allowing him to recover fully before training and working out and if a season is played next season, with the NHL and Players’ Association reaching an agreement sooner or later, Erik Gudbranson is expected to finally
come out and prove why he was picked third overall in 2010.
Updates should be expected on the players status in the upcoming weeks as the Florida Panthers will be making an announcement on a regular basis.
