Florida Panthers aiming to put New Jersey Devils on elimination line -NHL Playoffs Game 4 Preview
Florida Panthers have no intentions of slowing down anytime soon as they hope to rewrite history by putting New Jersey Devils on the verge of elimination when the two meet for game 4 of the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Playoffs Quarterfinal
series on Thursday night, April 19, 2012.
On the other hand, New Jersey Devils’ veteran goalie, Martin Brodeur, is all set to rebound in the next game after a disappointing performance in the previous matchup which cost them the lead with a 4-3 loss.
Devils head coach, Peter DeBoer, went to the extent of having to change goalies, replacing Brodeur with Johan Hedberg, but that also did not stop the Florida onslaught.
"I expect to play every game all the time, especially in the playoffs," Brodeur said on Wednesday. "It might not happen the rest of my career. But right now, until I don't play, I expect every day I will play.”
Devils will definitely be trying something different when it comes to game four for an attempt to save themselves from a potential elimination in game five.
"That's part of being who I am or what a goaltender has to go through over and over," Brodeur said. "When you go back in there, it's in your head. You just have to get your feet wet again and go at it. It's a game. I know how to play it. There are days I
play well. I try every day. I try as hard as I can every day, but there are days it just doesn't work.
For Florida, if one goalie is not performing well, there are ways they rebound as the replacement takes over and complements for the mistake of the other. Scott Clemmensen is a terrific example of this as he filled in exceptionally well.
What Panthers are now focusing on is to be able to take an early lead in the competition instead of having to fight back later on, which always does not work. They need to fix their slow starts and are determined to do so come game four on Thursday at the
Prudential Center.
