Florida Panthers beat the San Jose Sharks 3-2 after scoring a late winner

The second last game of Sunday saw the Florida Panthers play host to the San Jose Sharks.  The game was played at the BankAtlantic Centre with a large turn out to coming to witness the game. This was the 841st game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere
Series which was expected to be won by the Sharks.
However, things turned out to be different. Though the Sharks were on road for a victory but with some brilliant play the Florida Panthers managed to score twice in the final period and won the game 3-2 in the end.
Jason Garrison of the Panthers was named the star selection of game after he scored the game winning goal.
Florida Panthers were quick out of the blocks and made quite a few goal attempts early on. There was a flow in their play which kept the Sharks on the back for some time. However, the Sharks unleashed their weapons who have won them game after game and attacked.
The Sharks with the strong offence were bound to come across immediate success. It was in the 13th minute after a brilliant move constructed by the Sharks saw them scoring and getting into the lead. The goal was scored by Kent Huskins from a well
placed flick shot. After the goal, Sharks continued to dominate the proceedings. They defended really well and cut down any dangerous plays way before the opposing players neared their goal.
The period didn’t see any further goals and ended with the Sharks leading 1-0. During the course of the period Sharks made 10 goal attempts while the Panthers made just 4 goal attempts.
The second period saw both teams change their game play. Panthers started to attack and near the goal with each attack. Unfortunately, they couldn’t find a way past the opposing goal keeper. On the other hand, Sharks got back on the dominating roads which
saw then attacks and giving the opposing defence and goalie a very tough time.
However, they too couldn’t score. It looked as if the period would end goal less when suddenly on a quick counter attack Panthers successfully scored to level the scores. The goal was scored by Mike Santorelli from a decent strike with less than 30 seconds
of play left.
The period ended with the scores level on 1-1 with the Panthers making 7 goal attempts in the final period while the Sharks made 11 goal attempts.
The final period of the game saw the Sharks start on a high and scored in the 3rd minute to get back into the lead. The goal was scored by Joe Pavelski from a superb flick shot. Panthers responded to this with some strong plays and successfully
scored in the 11th minute to level the scores once again with Chris Higgins finding the net through his superb backhand shot.
Both teams attacked after this and the puck was to and fro on the ice every now and then. The home crowd was set wild as Panthers scored in the 18th minute through Jason Garrison through a powerful strike. This proved to be the final goal of the
game and won the game 3-2 for the Panthers.
