Florida Panthers looking to advance in Game 6 against New Jersey Devils -NHL Playoffs Update
Florida is yearning for their home team to advance and Panthers are definitely prepared to work towards that as they face-off against New Jersey Devils in Game 6 of the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Eastern Conference Playoff Quarterfinal
series.
New Jersey Devils were put on the verge of elimination after a disappointing 3-0 shutout loss to Florida at the BankAtlantic Center this past Saturday and hope that their home crowd will be able to push them towards levelling the series.
"It's the same thing every game of this series," Panthers coach, Kevin Dineen, said. "The tempo always seems to be set right at the start of the game. So I would expect nothing less than that desperation mode for a team that's down by one and also wants
to win the series. It's two clubs that will be colliding very early in the game."
Ilya Kovalchuk will be rejoining New Jersey Devils for Game 6, something that the team is looking forward to capitalising on.
"It's not an individual sport," said Kovalchuk. "The worst thing I can do is try to do everything by myself. It has never worked out. I have tried it a lot of times in the past when I was frustrated and did things I shouldn't do.”
Being their leading scorer in the regular season, New Jersey has high hopes for Kovalchuk and could be the deciding factor in this series but Florida is also determined to advance for the first time in over a decade.
Heading back to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, there is no telling what might happen as both teams have managed to win games on home-ice and on foreign territory, making the game even more dangerous.
Martin Brodeur is nearing the end of his career as he will be turning 40 later on in the year and having three Stanley Cups under his belt, the veteran goalie knows what his team needs to get back to contend for another championship.
Game 6 between Florida Panthers and New Jersey Devils is set to begin on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at the Prudential Center at 7:30 PM ET.
