Florida Panthers send Tim Kennedy to San Jose Sharks for Tim Kennedy -NHL Update
Florida Panthers and San Jose Sharks underwent some low key trading on Thursday, January 26, 2012, as forward player, Tim Kennedy, was sent by the former in exchange for defenseman, Sean Sullivan, which might look like it is not a big deal, but could prove
to be bigger than expectations.
San Jose Sharks have acquired 25-year-old left winger, Tim Kennedy, from the Florida Panthers, a player who is still looking for his breakthrough season but is known for the potential he carries with him.
Not seeming that big when looked at, Kennedy is certainly one of those deceiving figures that are able to amaze and surprise without intimidating. The Buffalo, New York, United States, native was picked up by Washington Capitals during the 2005 National
Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft as the 181st overall selection during round six.
Ever since then, Kennedy played his first major league game back in the 2008-2009 regular season with his home town team, the Buffalo Sabres, who game his another chance during the 2009-2010 season as he played in 78 games and picked up a career high, 26
points (10 goals, 16 assists), but failed to impress the team.
He was signed on by Florida before the 2011-2012 regular season to a $550,000 contract and played in only six games while picking up a single assist.
In this season so far, Kennedy has gotten the chance to play in 27 games, but as his points performance remains extremely low (1 goal, 1 assist), the Panthers, who are focusing on achieving much bigger goals this time around, do not see him in the mix.
Having been traded to the San Jose Sharks, it might be finally time that Kennedy will have a breakthrough season on a team that is known for being a rookie builder.
Sean Sullivan on the other hand, is a 27-year-old defenseman, still looking for his first game in the major league. He spent last season with the San Jose Sharks’ affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL), the Worcester Sharks, but has not impressed
any team in the NHL to bring him on.
Sullivan might get a gig with Florida next season.
