Florida Panthers sign Peter Mueller for one year with deal worth $1.75 million –NHL Update
America’s 24 year old hockey player, Peter Mueller, has signed with Florida Panthers of Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference in the National Hockey League (NHL). Mueller has signed a deal, which is for one year and is worth $1.75 million as reported
by CapGeek.com.
The Bloominton, Minnesota born winger, who also plays as a centre had an amazing start to his career when he was first signed by Phoenix Coyotes in 2007-2008 at the age of just 19, was tipped as one of the best young, emerging and rookie player when he played
81 games, scored 22 goals, 32 assists and a total of excellent 54 points in the very first season of the NHL.
Since then, his performance has been on a low as his number of games decreased with every year for next four years after that. After playing 81 games in the first season he played 72 in the next season (2008-2009), 54 in the 2009-2010 season and just 15
in the 2010-2011 season.
When Florida Panthers General Manager, Dale Tallon, was asked about hiring and giving contract to Mueller, he said, "I hope to get him back to what he was as a rookie. He seems to be revitalized, and we did our due diligence. We brought him in here and checked
him out from toes to nose, and everything checked out fine. He understands this is a great opportunity for him. He's a top-six forward. He has size and skill, and he's still young (24). It's well worth the risk for us to sign him to a one-year deal and hope
he gets back to what he was before he was injured."
After having a spell of three years with Phoenix Coyotes from 2007-2010, Mueller had spent two years with Colorado Avalanche as well where he played in the seasons, 2010-2011 and 2011-2012.
In 207 games he played for Phoenix Coyotes, he had scored 39 goals and gave 68 assists earning him 97 points but his performance with Colorado Avalanche was lot worse than that as he played 47 games with them, scoring just 16 goals and 20 assists earning
him just 36 points. He would be looking to prove his worth and gave better performance with Florida Panthers, surely better than performance with his last two teams.
