Florida Panthers stay hot by destroying Dallas Stars 6-0 -NHL Match Update
There is no doubt that Florida is having one of their best performances in recent years and they have no plans of slowing down any time soon as the Panthers stayed hot by destroying one of the top Western Conference teams, the Dallas Stars, 6-0, Tuesday
night, November 15, 2011, at the American Airline Center in Dallas, Texas, United States.
Florida Panthers and Dallas Stars nearly remained the same in their shooting, but it was their goalie, Scott Clemmensen, who stayed strong and blocked all 25 attempts on his net while the home goalie, Kari Lehtonen, fell short on six.
"It's definitely a mentality", Florida forward, Jason Garrison, said. "The forwards work hard down low, we work low to high and get shots through. That's definitely the game plan".
Dmitry Kulikov opened his scoring for the month and the night with Florida’s go ahead goal while Jason Garrison fired off another one less than two minutes later to take a commanding lead to end the first period.
Dallas gave three straight penalties early in the second period but Florida did not need that extra added man advantage since Tomas Fleischmann and Stephen Weiss scored two straight for Florida at the 15:02 and 19:52 mark respectively to build on an already
strong lead.
"It was a good game for me to play my first game back because the team played so well in front of me, especially in those first two periods", Clemmensen said about his first 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season game. "By the time they [Dallas]
got it going, essentially it was a 20-minute game for me there in the third period and we had a 4-0 lead at that point".
Kris Versteeg disappointed the home crowd even further with his extension goal midway through the third and final period of regulation while Evgeni Dadonov made their last to finalise an already secure match 3:19 later.
Florida Panther will hope to remain hot as they have another road game against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday before returning home for four straight.
Dallas Stars will be going on their own road trip against the Colorado Avalanche on Friday.
