Florida Panthers thrash the Toronto Maple Leafs with a 4-0 shutout performance

Florida Panthers hosted the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Bank Atlantic Center this Thursday.
The game was very important for both the teams as they both are out of the play-off picture. It looks difficult for Panthers to make their way into the cut but Maple Leafs has a strong chance of doing it but for this they need to win games.
The game was pretty much even throughout with both teams coming up with a decent effort at the start of the game. There were a few shots on goal by both teams during the period but they were unable to open their account.
The second period started off with Panthers dominating the game as they fired shots on goals every now and then and managed to score early in the period. They continued to attack and scored twice more during the course period.
The final period saw both teams a few shots on goal out of which Panthers scored one goal during the period to win the game 4-0 in the end.
Sergei Samsonov, winger of Panthers was named the star of the game as he scored a goal and made an assist.
A slow start to the game was observed as both teams were reluctant to go on the attacks at the start of the proceedings. However, they got into the flow as the game progressed. Resultantly, some superb plays were seen during the period and passing of both
teams was excellent.
However, neither of the teams was able to find the back of the net as the period ended with the scores deadlocked on 0-0. During the course of the period, Panthers made 8 shots on goal while Maple Leafs made 7 shots on goal.
The second period saw both teams coming up with almost similar attacking but Panthers proved to be the productive of the two teams. Panthers got into the lead with Sergei Samsonov scoring in the first minute from a brilliant strike from long range.
Panthers continued to pile pressure and scored once again during power play in the sixth minute through Stephen Weiss. Panthers completed a dominating performance in the period with another goal in the 12th minute goal which was scored by Mike
Santorelli from a powerful strike.
The period ended with Panthers leading 3-0 with both teams making 11 shots on goal during the period.
The final 20 minutes of play didn’t see much as Panthers made 7 shots on goal while Maple Leafs made six shots on goal.
