Question:

Flourescent Bulb Substitution Question?

Does any one know what the substitutions are for the spiral flourescent bulbs? For an example lets say I have a lamp that says not to use bulbs over 60 watts. My flourescent bulb box says that their 25 watt bulb replaces a 100 watt standard bulb. Can I use that in my lamp because it's only 25 watts flourescent or should I not because it's comparable to a 100 watt standard?

  1. Go ahead and use it.  The limit is based on power consumption, not light output, and it is there for fire and electrical safety.  A 100W incandescent bulb will overheat the fixture but a 25W bulb of any type will not.

  2. honestly, i don't really get you because on how you explain it but it depends on your lamp. but if i were you, better use it. it only means that the illumination of the 25 watt bulb is the same as the illumination of a 100 watt bulb. the bulb does not exceed on the maximum watt so you can use it.
