Would a bouquet of yellow/orange marigold; pink larkspur; red carnation; and white lily of the valley look good together?

  1. the pink would be out of place....

  2. How could anyone say - that is totally a matter of opinion!

Personally, I think it would not look great. Marigolds are very difficult to design with because they are so low and dense. The color of marigolds is pretty unique and would be tough on the eye against the pink larkspur. Maybe purple larkspur would work since purple and orange are more complementary. White works well with just about any arrangement as it gives the eye a chance to rest and transitions the other colors. The red carnation would be the "wild card." If it is just the right shade of red and just the perfect flower, it could work.

That said, I love a garden bouquet of any type as long as they are from my garden and don't care what colors go together or not!

With your particular bouquet, you will also have an issue of trying to get all of these at the same time. Marigolds are a summer bloomer while larkspur and carnation bloom in late spring and lily of the valley blooms in early spring. I am not even sure a florist would have an easy time getting marigolds and lily of the valley at the same time.

    What is your bouquet for?
