Question:

Flower ideas, suggestions, and advice. What flowers are available in August?

My questions are:

1) What flowers are available in the beginning of August?

2) What are the cheapest flowers for this time of year?

3)What flowers come in shades of purple for this time of year?

4)What are your personal tips on saving money on flower cost?

5) Is stephanotis available for this time of year?

I really like this bouquet (http://www.senkaflorist.com/bouquet/pages/Pink_Rose_Calla_Lisianthus_Stephanotis_Round.html) and this is where I got the idea to use shades of purple... Do you think it'd look just as good if a similar idea was carried out using purple flowers and the stephanotis?

Thank you

  1. You need to be talking to your florist about this -

  2. I am agree I would say too - gerbera, by the way here is cool article - This Year’s Hottest Flowers - http://nuptia.ca/budget-planning/expert-...

Here are a few things that will help:

       1. Pick your wedding colors in advance.  You don t necessarily need to have all the details worked out, but the main colors should be decided.  Once you are in your wedding consultation, your wedding consultant can help with ideas and themes.

       2. Look through Wedding magazines and cut out pictures of any styles you may like.  Modern, Classic, or just plain different is a good start.  Arrangements, decorations and the bridal bouquet should all have a common theme.

       3. Pick at least one or two types of flowers that you would like to feature.  Learn meanings of the flowers if you feel this is important, or choose one that has a special personal meaning.

       4. Do some research to find out if your preferred flowers will be in season for your wedding date.  Even if your preferred flower is not in season, it is probably still possible to get that flower, but be prepared to pay a little extra to get it.

       5. Know your budget.

          - Keep in mind to maximum amount you are willing to spend.  This isn t something you should tell the florist ahead of time because prices fluctuate between one florist to the next.

          - Keep in mind the approximant amount of money you would like to spend. This amount can be revealed to the florist if you feel comfortable.  It could help the florist give you the most value for your money.  At the end of the consultation, you may decide that you would like more flowers added to the arch, or out of season flowers in your centerpieces.  This extra room to work with could be helpful to getting everything you want.

       6. Ask for referrals.

          - If you are interviewing a florist you are unfamiliar with, ask for pictures of past work or phone numbers of other wedding couples that they have helped in the past.

       7. Ask for a sample of the centerpiece.  Some florists will provide a sample because it will help both sides.  If you are unhappy with your sample there is still time to change it.  Let the florist know how you feel about it.  They will most likely appreciate the feedback ahead of time, as opposed to the day of your wedding.

  3. The cheapest flowers in August are Gerbera Daisies...might come in purple...
