Question:

Flowers for a spring wedding?

I'm fascinated by cherry and plum blossoms, and what they stand for in Japanese and Chinese cultures. My fiance is half Japanese (half white), and I'm half Chinese (half Cambodian).

I like the idea of the symbolism that the two flowers would bring to our union -- plum blossoms "are seen as an example of resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity" and cherry blossoms are "an omen of good fortune and [are] also an emblem of love, affection..."

So I'd like to use both flowers as the theme. I'd probably have accents of them all over, use the colors (dark brown, cream, and pink), and have a cake similar to this http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/yhst-7919480820973/cherry-blossom-wedding-cake.JPG

However, how possible/difficult is it to get a bouquet containing both flowers? Are they very fragile or hard to acquire? If so, is there a way to make fake ones that would look pretty real?

Are there any other options that would keep up with this theme?

Thanks! ^_^

  1. Try ebay and see wha they are selling with your theme.

For the flowers try wholesale shops and do them yourself.

  2. I think you should use the theme for you invitations as well. See link:

I think it might be hard to obtain and maintain the flowers if you use live ones, but would not be apposed to you using silk, you could always save some to put in a vase afterwords and then you can keep it in your house as a way of remembering you special day.

I think you should call around to your local florist and get there input on using these flowers, and to find out if it is even possible, and the cost, etc.

Your theme is so beautiful, what a wonderful idea.
