Question:

Flowers that are NOT for You?

My best friend here in the states recently obtained employment. He has a new job as a flower delivery person. He states that EVERYWHERE he goes this happens. He will be carrying flowers and some random lady will say, "For me? Thank you!" when they are not for her (and they know this). My question is this: Do you find this funny? He finds it rather annoying, but is used to it already.

  1. I think that it is tacky.  It is really a dork thing to say.  I mean, it really gets old after hearing it over and over, I'm sure.  Not original. AND, it is not even funny.  Pathetic, really.  I mean, seriously.

  2. I agree with the person who posted above.  It is not funny, it is not humourous and it is annoying.  It reminds me of those ladies who talk too much at their desks and laugh at their own jokes.

I think that it is annoying and it is not funny.  To force a courtesy laugh is really good of your friend.  Man, that is pathetic to be saying, I agree. How can that be a conversation starter?  I mean, "Ohhhh! Flowers for ME? You shouldn't have!"

what can you say? "No, sorry, you're obviously too annoying to receive flowers b/c if you did, you would not make such dumb jokes."

    Makes sense.

  3. its just a polite way of making conversation. Heard it several times and have probably said it a few times too.
