  1. mums, there are many diffrent colors to choose from

  2. There are a number of hybrids of Anemone Japonica. The hybrids vary in lighter and darker shades of silvery pink to rose, single, semi, and double flowers, white, and there are dwarfer and taller hybrids.

There are also fall-blooming perennial Asters in white, pink, rose, lavender, and purple. Check specialty perennial nurseries for named varieties.

Cyclamen Neapolitanum is a charming little corm that blooms from late August through the end of October depending on the weather that year. Little pink or white butterflies of blossom hover at about 3", while stunning marbled and blotched leaves reminiscent of ivy slowly reveal themselves. The beautiful foliage lasts until June, when the plant rests until blooming.

Chrysanthemums are inexpensive and good value for their long blooming period and heavy blooming They are available in just about any color but blue. They are sold in garden centers and even grocery stores. Watch for sales; things get really competitive.

Amaryllis Belladonna is an interesting bulb that lies secretive and silent through the summer so that you forget it's there. Then, suddenly, stems of clear pink lily-like flowers are clustered--mark their spot well. I usually see them springing from the foundation gardens of old houses in the fall.

Another fall bloomer is Schizostylus Coccinea, with slender stems of pink, red, or white blooms.

Crocus Speciosa is another oddity that you may often see in older gardens and is found now and then at the garden center. Lavender, lilac, or white crocus flowers, much larger than spring-flowering types, are best planted in large drifts under trees, where they will not be forgotten and so discarded. These are very beautiful after growing undisturbed and settled in colonies.

  3. Wax Begonias, Chrysanthemums
