Floyd Landis disassociated from Bahati Foundation Cycling
It’s Floyd Landis in the news once again. Many days had gone by since the cyclist broke into the news headlines all around the world. But despite the roaring popularity, Landis has finally been able to lose his job. The cyclist was found guilty of accusing and charging some of the top cyclists in the industry which included Lance Armstrong and other top cycling officials. Since the past one week, Landis accused many people across the board for being involved in doping. At present, Floyd Landis himself has suddenly found himself all alone without a racing team to support him.
Regarding the 28-year-old cyclist from Compton, Rahsaan Bahati, who is also the founder of the Bahati Foundation Cycling Team clarified on Friday that Dr. Brent Kay, a sponsor of Landis for a long time has disassociated himself from the team and the two were no longer under any legal binding.
Bahati told that the reason for their split was largely due to the irresponsible attitude portrayed by Landis who only managed to disgrace himself as well as his sponsors. Landis had sent a series of emails in the past couple of days in which the cyclist disclosed the involvement of seven time winner of the Tour de France, Lance Armstrong along with some other cyclist’s and officials in doping practices. According to Landis, Armstrong was the person who taught him all the doping techniques and also assured him that the positive tests would be covered up by the officials.
Moreover, the sponsor had also been annoyed by Landis’ e-mails to the Director of the Amgen Tour of California Andrew Messick, suggesting that the $40,000 spent by Kay's Ouch Sports Medical Centre for a sponsorship tent, should be refunded as the Bahati team was not invited to the race. The tent was placed at the time trial on last Saturday.
When asked about the e-mails, Bahati showed complete surprise for the actions made by Landis. He said that this was all was done without any prior information to him and also added that he is very disappointed about the behaviour depicted by the cyclist. He also told that as Landis came to his tent on Saturday, he behaved very differently. Bahati added that he was very confused about why he had come to the race when his team was not actually invited to take part in it. Bahati further clarified that he did not inquire about it and just over looked the matter.
For Landis this is not the first time that he had been subjected to disgrace and charged. In the year 2006, a Tour de France title was taken away from him after he had failed to clear a drug test and a ban for two years was imposed on him. However, he completely denied any use of drugs at that time. He also ran an extensive campaign by using the media and Church to convince the fans and masses that he had no involvement in drugs.
But last week, he sent a series of emails confessing the use of performance enhancing drugs throughout the Tour De France. On top of this, he also accused Armstrong, Dave Zabriskie, Levi Leipheimer and George Hincapie through those extensive e-mails of doping before 2006.
