Floyd Mayweather: Fans cannot afford to miss Mayweather vs. Cotto – Boxing News
Mayweather and Cotto, both were present at the final leg of their three-city tour meant to promote their super-fight on May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Throughout the whole event, Mayweather did not utter a word against Manny, which was very much expected
from him since he has been doing that a lot recently.
Surprisingly Mayweather avoided giving answers based on Pacquiao. He was trying to get to his fight against Cotto but everyone seemed more interested in making him talk on Pacquiao. When asked about Pacquiao, Mayweather iterated, “Miguel Cotto versus Floyd
Mayweather, Floyd Mayweather versus Miguel Cotto, Saturday May 5, it's a fight that the fans can't miss. We're both stepping up and taking the random blood and urine testing and that's a great thing for boxing."
Things got a bit odd when Mayweather’s top advisor Leonard Ellerbe stepped in to talk for Mayweather. He said, “We're not here to talk about Manny Pacquiao." Mayweather further said, “This is about Mayweather versus Cotto not Mayweather versus Pacquiao not
Mayweather versus Jeremy Lin. This is Mayweather versus Cotto. A-B-C, 1-2-3.”
Floyd further added that he fights whomever he wants to fight and he tries to give his fans pure excitement. He then said that the event is meant to discuss his fight with Cotto and if anyone wants to talk about Jeremy Lin then he should fly to New York
or go to Freddie Roach’s gym to talk about Manny. In a reply to a question regarding Manny, he said Manny is fighting Bradley and he (Mayweather) is fighting Cotto and it is that simple.
Mayweather was then asked his controversial take on Jeremy Lin through his last month’s tweet, which read that Jeremy Lin is a good player but all the hype surrounding him is because he is Asian. When asked about this in particular, Mayweather said that
everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion and that he has an open mind and he does not judge others. Finally, Mayweather ended his part saying that he was there to talk about himself and neither for his upcoming opponent Cotto, nor for Pacquiao and Lin.
