Floyd Mayweather: I was not sharp before but everyone says that I am as sharp as a razor now
Floyd Mayweather, who is a five-division world champion and the current World Boxing Council’s Emeritus World Super Welterweight Champion, has admitted he was a bit sluggish when he first returned to the gym after a long break of 16 months but on the same
note the American claimed he is now as sharp as a razor.
Floyd ‘Pretty Boy’ Mayweather, who is set to face the current World Boxing Council’s World Welterweight Champion Victor Ortiz on September 17, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, told the media he has excellent sparring partners and he has
got his pace.
“When I first got to the gym, I admit that I was not as sharp as I want to be,” he said. “But everyone says now that I'm as sharp as a razor. I'm feeling fast, and I have some good sparring partners in here. They're not pushing me around, and I'm getting
top-notch work.”
The Vicious, Victor Ortiz, who has won 29 of his 33 professional fights (2 draws), with 22 of his fights coming by the way of a knockout, was found a bit careless regarding his weight. Therefore, the 34-year-old Mayweather thinks Ortiz is not a responsible
fighter.
The undefeated American legend Mayweather, who has won all of his 41 professional fights with 25 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, declared he has not let his weight issues trouble him. He insisted he believes in his speed and will win against
his opponent on the fight night.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “He's bigger, but is [Ortiz] the smarter, more disciplined fighter? I'm walking around at 150 [pounds for the 147-pound fight], not [160-plus] like him. I'm responsible. I believe my speed remains. I'm not in this
sport to take punishment. I'll be fine.”
The Mayweather-Ortiz bout has gained a lot of hype ahead of the fight and all that is left to see is whether Mayweather will once again win or not, as Ortiz is also one of the best out there.
