Floyd Mayweather Jr. donates $100,000 to charity – Boxing news
The American five-division world champion, Floyd Mayweather Jr. donated $100,000 on Wednesday to the Southern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Mayweather was seen presenting the check to Stephanie Kirby, Executive Director of Susan G. Komen for the Cure Southern Nevada Affiliate at his gym in Las Vegas.
The American boxing star, on this occasion, iterated, “I think the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization does a great job raising money for a cure for breast cancer. I hope my donation allows them to continue to do this outstanding work.”
Appreciating his efforts, Stephanie Kirby remarked, “Yesterday, in a word, was overwhelming! The depth of that kind of generosity is not something people see all that often. Susan G. Komen for the Cure serves women and men in communities across the nation,
and globally, who are uninsured and underinsured.”
She further said that she was highly honoured by Mayweather’s concern towards the organisation and the need it has, and that his effort has shown that he is a man with a vision for a world without breast cancer.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. who has won seven world titles and the lineal championship as well throughout his professional career by now has been making such donations for quite some time now.
The punching machine will now be making headlines with his bout against the three-division world champion Miguel Cotto on May 5, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. As of now, the news of the bout between the two has been confirmed and Mayweather
has even acquired license for the fight.
Mayweather is the American heartthrob when it comes to boxing. He has made several appearances in other sporting arenas as well, among which his most noticeable appearance was in WWE when he punched the Big Show to break his nose.
With all the popularity Mayweather has acquired in a relatively short span of time, he is surely considered to be one of the biggest American icons of today.
Although Mayweather has become a very controversial figure, especially after his jail sentence, it seems like he still has the guts to go out of the way and help charitable organisations like this one.
